Actiphage is a novel bacteriophage-based assay that infects and lyses active Mtb to release bacterial DNA for PCR based detection. It is designed for laboratory TB testing.
In clinical studies Actiphage has been shown to have:
- higher specificity and sensitivity than current tests for Latent TB Infection (LTBI)
- sensitivity of 73% and specificity of 100% in symptomatic patients with suspected Pulmonary TB (PTB)
- specificity of 94% for all patients, with no change in sensitivity
Laboratory TB testing
Simple blood collection and easy sample processing allow for rapid laboratory turnaround time.
Phage-based testing was discussed in a recent webinar.
