PBD Biotech embraces World TB Day 2023 – ‘Yes! We can end TB’

World TB Day 2023, with the theme ‘Yes! We can end TB!’, aims to inspire hope and encourage high-level leadership, increased investments, faster uptake of new WHO recommendations, adoption of innovations, accelerated action, and multisectoral collaboration to combat the TB epidemic.

Ending TB requires a multifaceted approach, including advancing the development of tools for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care. Early detection and diagnosis are crucial in stopping the spread of TB.

We embrace the World TB day theme ‘Yes! We Can End TB’ with an educational webinar event on new diagnostic tests that are urgently needed to screen LTBI and determine who will progress to active TB disease.

The live webinar “Phage-Based Laboratory Diagnostics Role in the Detection of Tuberculosis” will be hosted by the American Association of Clinical Chemistry (AACC) on 19 April 2023.

In this webinar, top experts Drs. Haldar and Hu discuss the epidemiology of TB and limitations of current tests that look at host response. They explain how phage-based diagnostics enable direct detection of the pathogen in the blood, providing the opportunity to determine incipient/subclinical disease. They also discuss recent clinical trials.

Join the live webinar on April 19, 2023 for the opportunity to ask the speakers questions. Stay up to date on the latest clinical laboratory medicine and earn Continuing Education (CE) credits.

To participate in the webinar visit https://www.aacc.org/education/all-webinars

Dr Pranab Haldar

Pranabashis Haldar, PhD, Clinical Senior Lecturer and Consultant Respiratory Physician, Clinical Lead for TB Services, University of Leicester, Leicester, UK

Dr Tony Hu, Tulane University

Tony Hu, PhD, Weatherhead Presidential Chair in Biotechnology Innovation, Director, Center for Intelligent Molecular Diagnostics, Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Microbiology, and Biomedical Engineering, School of Medicine, Tulane University, New Orleans, LA
