The announcement was made at this year’s Bury Free Press Business Awards, as part of a black-tie ceremony to celebrate top businesses from across the region.
PBD Biotech CEO Mark Hammond said: “We’re delighted to be honoured with this Award for Innovation for Actiphage®, our novel diagnostic for TB and related diseases.
“Since PBD Biotech’s launch in 2016, we’ve been establishing our international reach, however our roots are firmly in Suffolk – and it’s exciting to be part of a growing, thriving business community here.
“We would like to congratulate all of the winners from across the region.”
Mycobacterial diseases such as human TB, bovine TB and Johne’s disease (in cattle) are global challenges that are devastating for the people and communities they hit.
There a few effective tests for these diseases, so the international potential for PBD Biotech’s Actiphage is huge.
The West Suffolk Award for Innovation, is one of 12 business awards coordinated by Bury Free Press.
300 guests were welcomed to Friday’s awards ceremony by Bury Free Press and Iliffe Media managing director Ricky Allan.
MP Jo Churchill went on to highlight the many and varied business success stories she hears about first hand on her regular visits across the area, saying innovation and job creation remained strong and growing.
PBD Biotech is currently fundraising to support further trials of Actiphage and to set up new UK laboratories. To find out more or get involved, please contact Mark via PBD Biotech’s head office.
