Novel TB diagnostics paper to be presented at ECCMID 2022

Date: 23-26 April 2022

Jee-Whang Kim of Leicester Tuberculosis Research Group (LTBRG) is to present a paper in the ‘hot topics in tuberculosis’ session at ECCMID 2022
ECCMID conference

The 32nd European Congress of Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases (ECCMID 2022), taking place in Lisbon, Portugal from April 23-26 will be a hybrid event for the first time, so hopefully even more people will be able to attend this prestigious conference.

We are delighted that Jee-Whang Kim of the Leicester Tuberculosis Research Group (LTBRG) will be presenting a paper in the ‘Hot topics in tuberculosis’ session at 13:30 -14:30 on Tuesday 26th April.

The paper is called: “A novel bacteriophage-based assay stratifies tuberculosis risk in recent household contacts of pulmonary tuberculosis: a prospective observational cohort study’

The paper builds on a pilot study by Dr Pranab Haldar, Clinical Senior Lecturer (University of Leicester) and Dr Ben Swift, Director of Research and Development at PBD Biotech with others, that showed the potential of Actiphage as diagnostic for patients with active and incipient TB.

LTBRG is a group of scientists and academic clinicians focused on the discovery, development and implementation of knowledge to overcome the health, economic and social impact of tuberculosis (TB) at a local, national and global level.
